Meanwhile, the Soviets get a bunch of made-up 'crimes' leveled against them in this one. They didn't go into Germany with the stated goal of murdering 50-80% of the population and turning the rest into slaves. They didn't slaughter POWs on a scale of millions. The Soviets didn't use civilian population centers as target practice for their air force. The Soviets certainly did bad things (IE: Katyn,) but the scale of their atrocities during WWII (IE: when this game takes place) simply does not match up to what Germany did. My main problem is that CoH 2 seldom shows the Germans doing anything wrong. I realize I'm a bit late to the party here, but I do agree that Soviet atrocities should not be covered up. 80% axis and 20 % allies D But seriously they should have called a few people in Russia that can help them with historically accurate campaign. We been long isolated and only one few books (from people who hate SU, prisoners etc) about that war were published in Europe/US so there is not so much info they had/ What should they have done differently? the balance lel. But why do you need retail if you have steam, right?:) Did Relic ever acknowledge their Cold War Hollywood approach might have been a little bit skewed? I dunno. It's forbidden, after scandal that Bad Comedian started. How do you think this affected sales of the game? I can confirm that u cannot just go to store and buy coh2 in Russia. Why Relics showed Britts as a heroes, US as heroes too, but soviets are just cowards that fought in this war because of NKVD squads behind their back. BUT showing Soviet Union as the main menace (after half of the campaign i starting to think that Nazi is better, lol) is a crime. I don't even want to talk about Poland, what Stalin & co did with that captured soldiers etc, it was truly horrible.

Stalin did a devastating damage to the Soviet Union (it was told that he knew about june 22, but he didn't believe it, and in 30s his just massacred many talented soviets officers). He died long before i was born, but i never heard that anyone from our family talking about NKVD squads that kills soldiers. 4 died under the Moscow and the other one died in Berlin operation. My family, alone, lost 6 men in that war. I like this game, like multi, i bought every dlc campaign, WFO, UKF. I'm from Russia and from 2 years past, i can confirm that the rage about the campaign is dropped significantly. Removed the comments that aren't game related at all, including my own.

It also shows atrocities and oddly commands you to burn houses with civilians inside under 'scorched earth' which is pretty mis-representative of the actual policy etc. Summary: the accusations are that the campaign focuses too heavily on NKVD blocking units killing soviet infantry, and that being the main driving factor of willingness to fight not heroism or bravery.
